Here are some comments from some of our clients...

Ionflight resolved a problem with our PQ3 in two days that could not be resolved by at least five different visits from three different engineers from the instrument vendor. Not only did Lee rectify the primary problem but he also enhanced the performance of our system. Lee Griffiths is a perfectionist and he will not call his work complete until it is up to his standards. Lee Griffiths needs to spend more time with his customers indulging in libations after his work is complete!

My name is Doug Steinke and I am the manager of the Materials Technology Center for Honeywell Aircraft Landing Systems. The MTC owns and operates a PQ2 Plus Inductively Coupled Plasma/Mass Spectrometer (ICP/MS) that was purchased n November 1989 and became operational in February 1990. During a routine analysis run this past summer we experienced condition of loosing vacuum. Typically this problem is due to the failure of the rotary backing pump, however this time, it was not the case.
I had been previously contacted by Lee Griffiths who told me that he had started up an ICPMS repair company called Ionflight. I found their hourly rates to be cheaper than our current service provider and so I asked Lee to send someone to our site to investigate. The vacuum problem was due to a water leak in the cooling coil of the instrument's main diffusion pump. Due to the age of the instrument there were several options offered by Ionflight, one of those being a retrofit to a new turbo pumping system. Up to this point the instrument had been in very good operating condition so it was decided to go with the retrofit option.
In a very short time period, the new pumps were installed and the instrument was back on line. The new pumps have worked very well to date. Ionflight did an outstanding job of upgrading our aging ICP/MS to a fully functioning instrument once again. Improved vacuum, better sensitivity and sharper resolution of peaks in the spectrum were the result of the upgrade. Ionflight's cost for the upgrade was in the right price range to make this happen for us and avoid the capital replacement expense of a new system. Our plans are to continue to operate this system indefinitely and use Ionflight to help maintain its component & hardware functionality.
